As a registered acupuncturist and applied movement neurology practitioner, Samantha loves the philosophy of Chinese medicine where to be truly healthy a person needs to be in balance within themselves and with their environment.

Bio: Meghan likes to solve puzzles. Getting to the bottom of why someone is experiencing pain is what she loves about her work. She is less interested in immediately applying temporary “feel better” modalities, than she is in figuring out what the issue really is, and applying the most evidence-based approach to treatment. It’s important to Meghan that her patients understand what’s going on, how they can get back to the activities they love as soon as possible, and how to prevent any future issues or injuries.

Meghan has experience working with a diversity of patients, in particular those with a long history of pain. She has worked in both community-based sports clinics and hospital settings. More recently, she worked on an interdisciplinary chronic pain management team. Working with this complex patient population taught Meghan to maintain an open and curious mind, to always do a thorough assessment, to look at the whole person, and to always strive to figure out the root cause of someone’s pain.

Meghan completed a Master of Science in Physiotherapy at the University of Toronto, and previously trained and worked as a yoga teacher and registered massage therapist. She is an avid learner, and is perpetually enrolled in continuing education courses to better serve her patients. She has taken advanced courses on the assessment and treatment of lower back pain and neck pain through the Advanced Physical Therapy Education Institute and the McKenzie Institute, and has also taken several courses on non-internal approaches to treating pelvic floor issues such as incontinence and pelvic pain. Other areas of continuing education include courses on injury management for runners, hip osteoarthritis, patellofemoral pain, pain neuroscience, and radicular pain.

Meghan believes that everyone deserves to reap the benefits of an active lifestyle, including those dealing with persistent pain or chronic conditions. Exercise and movement can sometimes be frightening for those with a chronic condition, but proper guidance from a knowledgeable clinician can open up a world of possibilities. Meghan is more than happy to work with those who are dealing with such conditions as chronic pain, osteoporosis, arthritis, and chronic, pesky injuries.

In her spare time, Meghan loves to trail run, cross country ski, play tennis, do yoga, read, and have fun with the various creative projects she tends to have on the go.
